Here’s what’s new. Tonight marks the first meeting of the year for our local Clay Club, POWR (Potters of the Wind Rivers). Tonight we’ll be discussing our upcoming exhibit at the Lander Art Center, “The “F” Words–Form, Function, & Flux. I’ve taken great inspiration from the blog of Carter Gillies, especially his post entitled “Peter Voulkos and the Demise of Functional Pottery”, #343. (See sidebar for link.) It really speaks to the theme of our exhibit and the forever debate of “craft vs. art”. I also love his reference to Jack Troy’s essay “Still Life: The Rarified Domain” which tongue-in-cheek references functional pots as Still Life.
Meanwhile, Here’s a photo of one of the platters made for my upcoming permanent installation of wall platters for a Wyoming hospital. Enjoy!
